Renee Mackintosh Museum at 78 Derngate in Northamton is housing a new Exhibition presented by Nadine Platt and Gerald Porter. The exhibition was kindly opened by the Mayor and the Mayoress of Northamtpon on Friday, the 5th of July.
The Joint Exhibition will be on display until the 16gth of August. It already attracts lots of attention from general public including the collectors and connaisseurs of art.
Charles Renee Mackintosh
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (7 .06.1868– 10.12.1928) was one of the most individual and creative designers of Scottish British origin of the 20th century. In his art he was strongly influenced by the European Symbolism.
His works together with the works of his wife Margaret Macdonald were influential on European design movements such as Art Nouveau and Secessionism and praised by great modernists such as Josef Hoffmann. Charles Mackintosh was born in Glasgow, Scotland and died in London, England. He is among the most important figures of Modern British and British Art Nouveau styles.

Some words about the Museum. This multi-award winning 78 Derngate was the home to Mr & Mrs Bassett-Lowke between 1917 and 1926.

WJ Bassett-Lowke was a businessman with his successful model-making business and one of the most demanding and knowlegeable Machkintosh’s partron. He commissioned Mackintosh to re-design his Georgian terraced house in a new and trendy for those days Modernist style. Charles Renee was the best person to do this.
